The individual must be proficient in maintaining park facilities and equipment up to Division standards with limited financial and staff resources. This requires the ability to recognize items that need attention, prioritize these needs, and allocate the available resources needed, while conserving these resources for the other items that need attention. The incumbent in this position must have knowledge and experience in general construction, plumbing, automotive repair/maintenance, facilities and equipment maintenance, time management, staff management, good communication skills and the ability to multi-task. The incumbent in this position requires the ability to communicate with the general public in order to gain public compliance with state park rules/regulations and policies for the safety and enjoyment of others, as well as the preservation of the park’s natural and cultural resources.
Employment Requirements:
-Moderate to extensive travel in region/statewide area.
-Weekend and holiday work required.
-Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License.
-Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
The ideal candidate will have:
– experience in outdoor recreation and education.
– experience in facilities and grounds maintenance to include carpentry, plumbing, landscaping, masonry, etc.
– experience in customer service experience and public contact preferred.
Minimum Qualification:
High school diploma or equivalent.
