The Student Life Center for Student Success offers academic support services designed to help you thrive at WNMU. We can connect you with tutors and provide resources to strengthen your learning, build confidence, and support your academic goals.

Every student needs assistance at some point in their educational journey. Seeking help is a sign of strength, and our team is here to support you every step of the way.

Not always. Some tutoring services are available on a walk-in basis, while others require an appointment. Availability may vary by subject, tutor, and time of semester. We recommend contacting the Center for Student Success to learn about tutoring options and schedule an appointment if needed.

Students can also access Tutor.com to schedule sessions with both in-person and online tutors, providing flexible support when and where it works best for their schedule.

The Center for Student Success (CSS) provides in-person tutoring primarily for General Education (Gen Ed) courses. These tutors are embedded within academic departments and support students in foundational courses across the curriculum.

For additional subject support, students have access to Tutor.com, which offers tutoring in more than 250 subjects. Through Tutor.com, students can connect with qualified tutors online for assistance with a wide variety of undergraduate courses, specialized subjects, writing support, and more.

If you’re unsure whether tutoring is available for a specific course, contact the Center for Student Success and we’ll help connect you with the appropriate resource.

Study groups often meet in the Tutor Center or in group meeting spaces in Tutor.com. Feel free to check in with us to see what study groups meet here and how you can get connected.

  • Time management and organization
  • Test preparation
  • Note-taking techniques
  • Academic success coaching
  • Writing and research support
  • Course-specific assistance through tutoring services

Students also have access to Tutor.com, which provides 24/7 online tutoring, study tools, writing feedback, and academic support in more than 250 subjects.

Whether you need help preparing for an exam, improving study habits, or understanding course material, the Center for Student Success is here to connect you with the resources you need to achieve your academic goals.

Online Tutoring

Tutor.com, accessible through Canvas (the link is located in the left navigation menu of your Canvas dashboard), provides 24/7 online academic support in more than 250 subjects.

Through Tutor.com, students can:

  • Connect with a live tutor for one-on-one assistance
  • Schedule appointments with online tutors or CSS Peer Tutors
  • Submit writing assignments for feedback and review
  • Ask academic questions and receive responses from qualified tutors
  • Access support anytime, anywhere to fit their schedule

Whether you need help with coursework, exam preparation, writing assignments, or study strategies, Tutor.com offers flexible academic support whenever you need it.

In-Person Tutoring

The Center for Student Success (CSS) offers free in-person tutoring to help students strengthen their understanding of course material, build confidence, and achieve their academic goals. CSS Peer Tutors are embedded within academic departments and primarily support General Education (Gen Ed) courses.

In-person tutoring is conveniently located on the 2nd floor of Miller Library on main campus and in the Conference Room at the Smith Building at the Deming campus, where students can meet with peer tutors in a supportive and welcoming learning environment.

In addition to tutoring, CSS hosts fun, academically focused events throughout the semester that provide engaging ways to study, prepare for exams, connect with other students, and strengthen academic skills. These events are designed to make learning interactive while helping students stay on track toward their goals.

In-person tutoring provides students with the opportunity to:

  • Receive one-on-one or small-group academic support
  • Review course concepts and assignments
  • Develop effective study strategies
  • Prepare for quizzes, exams, and presentations
  • Connect with peer tutors who have successfully completed the courses they support
  • Participate in academic workshops and study events that make learning engaging and enjoyable

Tutoring availability varies by subject and semester. If in-person tutoring is not available for your course, additional support is available through Tutor.com, which offers online tutoring in more than 250 subjects.

Math Café
The Math Café provides free support for students enrolled in mathematics courses. Whether you need help with homework, reviewing concepts, or preparing for exams, the Math Café offers a welcoming environment where you can work alongside tutors and fellow students.

Writing Center
The Writing Center helps students at every stage of the writing process—from brainstorming and organizing ideas to revisions, citations, and final editing. Writing Center tutors work with students to build confidence and strengthen writing skills across all disciplines.

📍 Location: Miller Library 1st Floor
🕒 Hours: Check the Writing Center webpage for the most current hours and appointment availability. Summer 2026 hours are listed as Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
