Standout Interview Platform
Practice your interview skills with career-specific interview geared towards your career path and receive constructive feedback.
StandOut is a video platform that will help you prepare for both video and in-person interviews. The platform contains practice interviews for 50+ roles in various industries, as well as, skills based interviews.
Ready to practice?
To access the practice interviews:
- Using Google Chrome (preferred browser), Access STANDOUT.(Single Sign-on with your WNMU Mustang Express Log-in Information)
- Click on “Practice” in the menu.
- Watch the first video, Welcome to Standout</strong > for a quick introduction.
- Once you return to the Practice page, enter the industry or role you are interested in viewing in the search bar at the top of the page.
- You will be asked approximately 5-8 questions, and will have 2 minutes to answer before continuing on to the next question. At the end of each session, you will have the opportunity to review both the question and your answer.

Welcome to Career Preparation Resources. This information is designed to help you succeed in your internships and your future careers by offering resources to improve your skills and expand your knowledge. Choose the modules that can help you the most or feel free to explore the entire program. Have fun!
For some students, there is an easy answer to the choice of career and field of study. It may be a life-long wish formed in early childhood or the profession that is a family tradition.
For most students, the choice of field and career is not simple. Selecting a career and field of study should involve careful thought.
Here are some helpful resources to help guide your decision.
What is a Mentor?
First, it might be helpful to understand what a mentor is and isn’t. A mentor is typically defined as a more experienced person who guides a less experienced person by modeling positive behavior and helping them navigate new professional and/or personal situations, both emotionally and practically.
MentorStudents.org is a completely free service designed to connect high school and college students to professional mentors in a wide range of fields. After registering, students can search for potential mentors and request a meeting.
The American Psychological Association of Graduate Students Committee on Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity (APAGS-CSOGD) offers a free, yearlong mentoring program (September–August) for LGBT graduate students in psychology
MENTOR connects mentors and mentees to programs that serve specific populations all around the country. You can pop in your zip code, the distance, your age, and the type of mentoring you’re looking for and find results that match you perfectly.
International Student Mentorship Program is a nonprofit organization with volunteer mentors across the United States. We are passionate about guiding international students through college and graduate school in America, from the admissions process all the way through graduation.
The overarching goal of the DPC is to develop, implement, assess, and disseminate innovative and effective approaches to engaging, training, and mentoring students; enhancing faculty development; and strengthening institutional research training infrastructure to enhance the participation and persistence of individuals from underrepresented backgrounds in biomedical research careers.
